New information comes to light in the case of the double murder at the camping site in Foinikounda. The investigation continues with authorities attempting to piece together all parts of the puzzle in order to solve the mystery. In new video evidence published by Live News, the 22-year-old accomplice appears just hours after the double murder, unnaturally calm with a relaxed stride, shortly before boarding the bus to Athens. This new footage from Live News cameras shows the 22-year-old just meters from the Kalamata bus station, the morning after the murders. The 22-year-old alleged accomplice holds a sandwich and coffee in his hands. He appears calm and comfortable, as if nothing had happened in the previous hours. He appears to walk with a peculiar characteristic in his gait. This is the detail that betrayed him, and authorities identified him when they obtained footage from security cameras.
“He came around 6:30 in the evening and seemed strange from the beginning, because usually people don’t pay for coffee with a fifty-euro note. Generally his whole aura was strange. Then I saw him on television and he looked quite similar. He kept looking at the floor,” the employee who served the 22-year-old told Live News.
When asked if she had seen the 22-year-old before, the employee answered that he had visited the store again: “He had been to the store again on Saturday morning, as far as I know.”
Camera catches him at the bus station
In the video, the young man can be seen walking with a limp, eating something in his hand and drinking coffee. He reaches the corner, stops for a moment, as if preparing to cross the street, but eventually disappears behind a column and remains there for 1 minute and 17 seconds.
The time is 18:49 and the bus leaves at 19:30.
He waits for time to pass before boarding the intercity bus.
Changed clothes
In the documentary video obtained by Mega’s show, the 22-year-old appears wearing a striped shirt with collar and buttons, and loose jeans.
This is the same person who in another video, one day earlier, was a passenger on the white scooter. Together with his 22-year-old friend, they would arrive in Foinikounda hours later and coldly murder the camping site owner and his supervisor.
In this video, the 22-year-old alleged accomplice clearly appears wearing white shorts, a light blue shirt, black motorcycle jacket and has a bag worn cross-body.
Two different images of the same person, hours apart, but with two murders in between. This is proof that the 22-year-old changed clothes after the murder.
“I got off, took off the shorts and the leather-type jacket I was wearing, put them in the guitar case I told you about and gave it to I.M. From the case I had taken out jeans and a short-sleeved polo-type shirt which I wore,” he said in his confession.
Left empty-handed
On the morning of Monday, October 6, the 22-year-old alleged accomplice arrives at Kalamata bus station carrying no luggage. The day before, however, he had a guitar case on his back.
Although he claimed to police that after the murder he was so shocked that he swam for 7 hours and walked for another 14 hours to Kalamata, in the video exclusively obtained by Live News, the 22-year-old appears anything but distressed.
“We must have traveled about 500 meters to 2 kilometers from the camping site. Then I left on foot and he left with the scooter. I went into the sea and swam for almost 7-8 hours. I reached near Kalamata, walked for quite a while and went directly to Kalamata bus station,” he said in his confession.
The clothes he wears are clean and dry and he is absolutely calm eating his sandwich and drinking his coffee. In fact, he paid with a fifty-euro note.
The 22-year-old’s claims about how he escaped never convinced the police. That’s why the most likely scenario is that the young man reached Kalamata by car.
The Kalamata ring road is the route we take to reach the city and the most likely road that whoever helped the 22-year-old could have used to reach Kalamata. Even if they had encountered a police roadblock, nothing would have raised suspicions that the passenger in the car had participated in the double murder in Foinikounda hours earlier.
