While the alleged perpetrator of the double murder in Foinikounta had arrived at the Kalamata courthouse by 12:00 on Sunday, October 19, the alleged accomplice had not yet arrived. The first defendant’s testimony contained elements of denial, according to MEGA’s reporting, as he emphasized that he was not the one who shot the 68-year-old camping owner and the supervisor. The 22-year-old accomplice, however, insists that he was the one who fired the shots, and maintains his version of the escape. Specifically, that he swam from Foinikounta to Kalamata, reached the bus station and boarded without having money.

Double murder in Foinikounta: searching for clear answers
The two defendants were expected to be called to clarify certain unclear points. They will be asked:
-Why did they kill the two victims?
-Did they go to commit robbery but ultimately executed the camping owner and supervisor without taking the money they had on them?
The two defendants will also be called to answer whether they are the only perpetrators of the double murder and provide answers to several other critical issues.
-How did they obtain the weapon?
-Where is the weapon now?
-Who is the one who pulled the trigger?
– Where is the motorbike they used to travel to Foinikounta today and where did they get it from.
Another unclear point is that the 22-year-old alleged accomplice swam from Foinikounta and emerged wet in Kalamata.
-He walked and boarded the bus without money. Does this make sense?
-What really happened on the night of October 5th?
-Were the motives financial or other?
According to information from the show, the two defendants picked up the scooter in Monastiraki, just meters away from the shop maintained by the 31-year-old employer of one of the 22-year-olds.
What they will argue
According to information from the show “Developments Now,” the 22-year-old alleged shooter is expected to claim that he did not enter the camping, that he never fired shots, nor did he even have the weapon. Additionally, he will say that he was the one who stayed outside the camping waiting for him to come out. He will rely on the fact that no gunpowder residue was found on his clothes, so how could he be the one who shot, while questioning the identification as the clothes he was wearing are different from those recognized by the nephew.
At the same time, he will completely challenge the eyewitness.
On the other hand, the 22-year-old alleged accomplice is expected to maintain his complicity and will insist on his escape scenario. He will explain again how he swam and arrived and took the bus.
Regarding witnesses who allegedly saw him dry, he will say that he dried off – both his clothes and money – and went to buy a ticket. He will also submit all medical documents, diagnoses of autism spectrum & Asperger’s syndrome, that he had been monitored by doctors from a young age.
Finally, he will request a psychiatric examination. Both will submit defense memoranda.
Foinikounta: Police “scanning” Kalamata to see where the alleged accomplice slept the night after the murder
Vasilis Lambropoulos, police correspondent for newspapers “TO VIMA” and “TA NEA,” spoke to “Developments Now” about the double murder case in Foinikounta, Messinia. Methodically and quietly, authorities are unraveling the mystery of the double murder that “froze” Messinia on the night of October 5th.
Police examined video footage from the bus station where the 22-year-old alleged accomplice arrived one day after the murder. As determined, despite the fact that he had stated that when they separated from the 22-year-old accused as the executor, he swam from Foinikounta to Kalamata, his clothes and money were intact.
Thus, as Vasilis Lambropoulos said, authorities are investigating whether someone helped him hide that night. At the same time, police are searching for the guitar case that the two perpetrators apparently had with them when going to Foinikounta. Inside it they had the murder weapon, which has not been found yet, and a blonde wig worn by the perpetrator of the double murder.
Additionally, the police correspondent said that the 22-year-old alleged executor was asked about the “Pakistani” phone, with him responding that he got it because of the GPS.
Finally, Vasilis Lambropoulos mentioned that in 2024 the 22-year-old alleged accomplice had gone to Foinikounta again, and appears to have had financial dealings with the 68-year-old victim.
