On a tram running from Glyfada to Alimos, a young person participated in a dangerous challenge, as some minors do when they climb onto moving trains or trams for a photograph, putting their lives at risk.
An eyewitness who observed the young person performing the dangerous stunt spoke to Live News and sent a documentary photograph. The witness reported: “It happened yesterday afternoon, around 4:00 – 4:30 PM, the tram was moving towards Glyfada, in Paleo Faliro and this person was hanging from the windshield wipers, as shown in the photograph. He was over 22-23 years old, not a child. I was shocked, you can’t believe what you’re seeing.”
Warning from STASY about tram incidents: This could lead to something extreme or an accident
Meanwhile, Ilias Maniatakis, president of the Tram & Urban Fixed Track Transport Workers Union STASY stated to MEGA: “The so-called ‘ladder’ as we call it here, meaning young people, minors, climb onto the rear of tram cars. We as workers have highlighted this issue many times and previously before the new fleet with orange cars arrived, we had made the process and proposed as workers to create a special construction on the blue cars, the older ones, so that minors wouldn’t climb onto the cars. This specific thing is not a game and young people should understand this, but parents should also understand it and point it out to their minor children, as this could lead to something extreme or an accident.”
