The autopsy of the unfortunate Kostas Tomaras has been completed. He was the co-owner of a well-known camping facility in Finikounda who was murdered alongside the business supervisor and close friend on Sunday night. According to journalistic sources from parapolitika.gr, the examination of the body conducted at the forensic medicine morgue in Corinth recorded two wounds – one to the head and one to the chest.
The bullets came from a large-caliber weapon and struck vital organs, leading to the unfortunate man’s instant death. He was the co-owner of the “Ammos” camping facility in Finikounda, which he and his brother built nearly 30 years ago as one of the 5 camping sites in the area, successfully developing it to its current state over time.
After his brother Kostas’s death, his son took over the business share. Remarkably, he was present during the double murder on Sunday night and by sheer luck is not also dead from the gunfire of the perpetrator, who remains at large.
Finikounda: How the “key” motorcycle and security cameras expose the double murder perpetrator
Police officers from the Homicide Department who came from Athens to Messinia to assist their colleagues in the investigation are trying to connect the puzzle pieces to reach the core of the double murder motives. Are these motives related to financial disputes? Inheritance issues? Personal differences? Romantic preferences? Or perhaps a combination of the above?
The fact that the perpetrator has evaded arrest until now doesn’t help investigators much. More than 30 hours have passed since the young gunman broke into the camping facility’s customer reception office and coldly shot both the business co-owner, Kostas Tomaras, and the camping supervisor. Present at a short distance was the son of the unfortunate Kostas’s brother, who had taken over his father’s share after his death.
What authorities are investigating
The perpetrator fired once at the young man but missed, then fled running toward the road. This covers approximately 200 meters to the main road connecting Finikounda with Pylos. There he got on a motorcycle he had parked himself – or which was driven by an accomplice – and disappeared toward Methoni. A motorcycle found outside Pylos is being investigated to determine if it belongs to the murderer and is being examined in the Criminal Laboratories.
Unfortunately, no cameras have been found in the Finikounda area that could help further investigations. However, this is not the case with security cameras in the broader Pylos area, which are being thoroughly examined. There, police believe they will identify the murderer’s movements, trying to find the escape route and, primarily, the vehicle used.
