A ten-month suspended prison sentence was imposed by the Athens Immediate Action Misdemeanor Court on the former partner of actress Tina Alimonou for a domestic violence incident. The sentence was suspended on the condition that the convicted person does not approach the victim within 100 meters and does not communicate with her in any way or through third parties.
During the trial, the actress herself was present and in her testimony described how there was tension between them and that he hit her twice lightly on the face.
“He hit me twice lightly on the face but I didn’t call the police. I called his father to remove him. Then he came back to my house. I opened the door for him and he threw a book at me. I called the police to give him a warning. I didn’t want him to be criminally prosecuted,” she stated characteristically.
For his part, the defendant denied exercising violence and claimed that he does not wish any contact with the victim. “If I was going to hit her, she wouldn’t have opened the door for me again. I’m not dangerous,” he said in his defense.
