Almost one month remains until the extension deadline granted on August 26 for issuing the Personal Number (P.A.) expires. Specifically, by November 5, citizens must complete the necessary steps to avoid delays and complications in their transactions with public services. The Personal Number will become the new primary identification tool and will gradually replace the tax identification number (AFM) and social security number (AMKA). To activate it, users must log into the gov.gr platform using their personal Taxisnet credentials and confirm their information. If you cannot do this online yourself, you will need to visit a Citizens Service Center (KEP) or a Consular Authority.

Steps for the Personal Number
The issuance process is digital and simple:
– Citizens log into the myinfo.gov.gr application using their Taxisnet credentials.
– They confirm their personal information.
– They select “Issue P.A.”.
The number is automatically generated using this system:
- The P.A. consists of 12 alphanumeric characters, of which at least 9 are numbers.
- It includes 3 alphanumeric elements as a prefix and the 9 digits of the individual’s tax identification number.
- In the alphanumeric elements, only digits 0–9 and capital letters of the Greek alphabet that have corresponding Latin characters are allowed.
- The third digit is automatically generated as a validity check digit.
– Citizens complete the process by selecting “Issue P.A.”.
Why activation is important
Those who do not proceed with Personal Number activation risk facing problems with essential services such as:
Submitting tax returns
Paying insurance contributions
Electronic transactions with public services
In short, by November 5, all citizens must have issued their new Personal Number to continue their transactions with public services uninterrupted.
