Responsibility lies with politicians if Panos Routsis loses his life, as he continues his hunger strike for the 21st day, according to his wife, Mirela. As she stated, Panos Routsis is in a difficult condition, having remained outside Parliament for three weeks, demanding permission for the exhumation of their child who lost his life at Tempe and the conduct of toxicological examinations.
“I don’t want Adonis Georgiadis to come. I don’t want him to come within even one meter. If my husband breathes his last breath, the politicians will be responsible. I believe there is hope that something will happen. It is our moral and sacred right to know how our child died. People live our pain every day and tell us how much they feel for us. This struggle belongs to all of us. Pain has activated anger as well. People are angry and outraged by the injustice. They have characterized us so crudely and unfairly.
Instead of Mr. Georgiadis, since he cares so much about my husband’s health, instead of calling Mr. Mitsotakis and informing him, because obviously Mr. Mitsotakis is not informed that for 21 days outside Parliament there is a man who is without food and asking for the obvious… there is no reaction, he is hidden somewhere. Obviously the prime minister of ‘I don’t know, I’m not aware’ perhaps even now is not informed. Let Mr. Georgiadis call him to inform him so that this order can be given to provide us with the toxicological examinations,” said Panos Routsis’ wife on MEGA’s show, “Smile Again”.
Panos Routsis’ wife: ‘From the first moment we felt the government against us’
Subsequently, when asked if they feel the government is against them, Mirela Routsis said: “From the first moment we felt them against us, from the first moment we went there they blocked off the entire area, altered the evidence, threw whatever remained of our children ‘a little further away’ as some expressed it. Of course we feel them against us.”
Furthermore, explaining the decision for her husband’s hunger strike, she mentioned: “My husband wanted to come down to Athens, that’s what he told me, because he wanted some days alone, he had thought of something to do, he didn’t want to tell me. Later I learned this, he didn’t tell anyone. (…) That Monday, on September 15, in the morning a friend calls me and asks how are you, what are you doing? She mentions Panos, I say fine. She tells me Panos is in Syntagma Square and is on hunger and thirst strike. I was shocked.”
Mirela Routsis: ‘The second person I called when I learned about Panos’ strike was Ms. Konstantopoulou’
“The first thing I did was call my husband, he didn’t answer, I was very worried, the second person I called was Ms. Konstantopoulou, she called me back after two minutes and I went to tell her and she says Mirela dear I just found out, I was just now in Syntagma with Panagiotis, because I also found out and came down immediately to see him, I told him as he came to stop this, not to do it, to pack up and leave, there’s no reason. She made great efforts to stop him, he was determined,” Mirela Routsis also noted. “After the phone call with Ms. Zoe I called Panagiotis again, he answered and told me he was determined. I tried very hard,” she continued.
As Mirela Routsis also mentioned: “All this scenario and these lies that Mr. Georgiadis wants to present outwardly, he shouldn’t do it, they are lies.”
‘No, categorically – We did not call Vasilis Bisbikis and Despina Vandi’
Subsequently, Panos Routsis’ wife was asked if they call celebrities to where her husband is located, in order to give the issue greater publicity, citing the example of Vasilis Bisbikis and Despina Vandi, since the actor in his statements claimed that he was found next to Panos Routsis, following his own call.
Mirela Routsis’ answer was categorically negative. “No. Categorically no,” she said. “I wasn’t in Syntagma. They called me and told me he was there. I didn’t know he would go,” she added. When asked if there was a possibility that her husband had called him, she said: “I don’t think so. I asked him and he said no.”
