Ruthless, unrepentant and fugitive remain the most important members of the criminal network consisting mostly of Roma, who pretending to be employees of DEDDIE defrauded 42 of our fellow citizens and attempted to do the same to five more, extracting money and valuables worth over 2.2 million euros.
DEDDIE network: The two operational arms that “devastated” the northern suburbs
The organization with two operational arms devastated the northern suburbs within less than three months, from last June until early September. The scam is now well-known, however they managed to identify gullible fellow citizens who obediently listened to the tale of DEDDIE employees rushing to… save money and valuables from short circuits and electrical current leaks. A coordinated police operation by the Crime Investigation and Detection Subdivision of Northeast Attica in western Attica led to the arrest of three organization members.
The gang was dismantled, however some accounts remain open, as key figures continue to evade arrest. Among them is the alleged leader, a person who has frequently troubled the Authorities in the past. We’re talking about “Pin-Pin,” a real… all star of criminal activity, as his name appears in many similar case files, while in the past he was considered one of the top lieutenants of the “Prince of Paraliki,” a socialite but also alleged “mastermind” of a hardcore gang that carried out hundreds of robberies, thefts and burglaries in the past.
A similar case but of lower… profile is the organization’s “number 3,” who has… managed to add to his criminal resume participation in an organization with 32 thefts to its credit. He was actually arrested in 2020 and found himself back in the hands of Authorities in February 2022, having now… upgraded with his participation in another organization that beyond the usual activities, its members faced charges for violence against employees, forgery, arson, attempted serious premeditated damage and more. In total he is believed to have had his hand in over 50 thefts and at least one robbery. It should be noted that both “number 1” and “number 3” have participated, according to police sources, jointly in one robbery.
On the other hand, a “tool” of similar gangs in the recent past has been another relatively young fugitive, whose name has been involved in participation in two other gangs that operated mainly in the southern suburbs. A deep expert of the electricity company employee trick, he has fallen into the hands of the Greek Police at least twice both in November 2023 and June 2024.
With… ministerial pseudonyms the DEDDIE gang members
Particularly interesting is the fact that the organization members had begun to become more… imaginative regarding the choice of surnames they used to “hook” their victims. According to parapolitika.gr sources, two of these stood out, absolutely characteristic. In several of the phone communications they had with their victims, in order to prepare them for the… disaster that was imminent due to alleged electrical current leaks, they used the names “Avgenaкis” and “Avramopoulos,” which clearly refer to the two politicians. According to the same sources however, they may have used… ministerial pseudonyms, but not the corresponding title. In other cases they simply used surnames that were characteristic, euphonious and lent some… prestige, such as “Nomikos,” “Andreotis,” “Alexopoulos” etc.
Heavy “hits”
An entire encyclopedia would be needed to record the solved thefts carried out by the organization. Some of them however stand out with the naked eye. As parapolitika.gr sources report, the Greek Police solved some very heavy “hits,” such as last June’s in Maroussi, with the perpetrators extracting from a woman, using physical violence, valuables worth 330,000 euros as well as approximately 4,000 euros in cash. Serious “hits” were also recorded in July in Kifissia (25,000 euros in jewelry, 3,000 euros in cash), in Ekali (200,000 euros in jewelry) and Ampelokipoi (122,000 euros in valuables). In August, they “hit” in Kifissia (1,120 euros in cash, 20 gold sovereigns worth approximately 12,000 euros and 19,000 euros in jewelry), while in the same area at the end of summer they extracted jewelry worth 100,000 euros. During the same period they stole from a man in Maroussi 200 British gold sovereigns, estimated value 130,000 euros.
