Vasilis Paiteris spoke for the first time after his release following a court decision regarding a debt of €850,000. The well-known folk singer described the difficult moments he experienced in detention, particularly referring to the meals he received, as he doesn’t eat cooked food.

“My ordeal had a happy ending. I thank all the friends who supported me. I’m fine, I’m better, I’m much better. I was right and I made it through. The amount started at €50,000 and reached €850,000. I can’t tell you anything else,” the singer stated. Referring to the conditions in detention, he added: “I ate only apples for four days and twice they brought me salad that I requested.”
