According to information and reporting from MEGA, the first step in rescuing the 53-year-old alleged gold hunter, who became stuck in an underground tunnel in Larissa while searching for gold coins, has already been completed. Specifically, rescue workers have reached the point where the middle-aged man was trapped, in an operation that began Tuesday afternoon, September 30. The men of the 8th EMAK unit, who according to information are still operating at the site, had as their first priority approaching the man and then freeing him.

This happened after they confirmed that the man was alive and provided him with oxygen from a special device. The site is located near the provincial road network between Gonnoi and Kallipefki. Indeed, in the first area many rumors circulate and stories are heard about the existence of gold, resulting in it attracting mainly fortune seekers.
Gold hunter trapped in Larissa: two men being sought
According to reporting published by onlarissa.gr, the 53-year-old did not operate alone. Another person who felt ill inside the underground tunnel was transferred to the Gonnoi Health Center. Two more are reported to have escaped. Authorities are searching for them. This number of men is also confirmed by witness testimonies. Residents observed four people who had actually occupied the site recently. It is a site with a cave, which the gold hunters tried to make larger. They reportedly dug to create a makeshift “tunnel” 22 to 25 meters long.
