During the “Greece Race for the Cure 2025” breast cancer awareness event on Sunday morning, many runners stopped to greet hunger striker Panos Routsi, who is now on his 14th day of hunger strike demanding toxicological tests and DNA identification for his son Denis, who tragically died in the Tempe train disaster. The runners initially shouted encouragement, telling him to stay strong and continue his righteous fight, expressing their solidarity. Several runners stopped to greet and embrace Panos Routsi, who appeared visibly weakened and moved by their support, thanking them warmly.
Panos Routsi: 14 days on hunger strike
For the 14th day, Panos Routsi has been accompanied by his wife and his friend Dimitris Oikonomopoulos, who was hospitalized two days ago.
Mr. Routsi says he will not stop his hunger strike or his fight until the family’s demands regarding his son’s death in the Tempe tragedy are satisfied.
Crowds of people gather daily to show solidarity with the Routsi family. Solidarity rallies will be held in various Greek cities, including Athens.
Regarding his health condition, Mr. Routsi is visibly weakened as he enters his 14th day of hunger strike.
