A tragedy occurred in Galaxidi, as a side-frontal collision between two vehicles resulted in two deaths and one injured person. The crash was devastating. In the first car, which was traveling from Nafpaktos to Itea with a couple inside, the driver lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the other vehicle heading toward Nafpaktos. Only the female driver was in that car.
The main cause of the accident appears to be the slippery road surface.
Galaxidi tragedy: Victims succumbed to their injuries
Eyewitnesses to the accident in Galaxidi, namely other drivers, immediately notified emergency services and traffic police, while fire brigade units from Itea also rushed to the scene. Firefighters freed the three injured victims, who were transported by ambulance to the hospital. Unfortunately, two of them succumbed to their serious injuries, while the third victim remains hospitalized.
