While the intensity of the weather phenomena was not particularly severe, Kefalonia airport became a place of distress for hundreds of passengers due to bad weather. Specifically, it was impossible for four flights to land and this, in turn, led to passengers being stranded inside the airport while also generating frustration. Moreover, even greater confusion was caused by the inability to make predictions about when the arrivals and departures schedule would return to normal.
As reported by local media kefaloniapress.gr, at least four flights were unable to land today, Sunday, resulting in dozens of passengers who were scheduled to depart from the island filling the airport space, waiting for a solution.

What the updated weather warning says, where it will rain
The Emergency Weather Phenomena Bulletin was updated on Sunday, September 28th by the National Meteorological Service. This followed an upgrade the previous evening.
More specifically: Heavy rains and thunderstorms are forecast until late Sunday evening (28-9-2025) in the areas of Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Aetolia-Acarnania, Achaia and Elis, and intermittently in the areas of Lefkada, Messinia, Arta and Preveza.
Tsatrafyllias forecast
With a new post on social media, meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias analyzed why the incoming bad weather has not “hit” Western Greece as expected. As he emphasizes, the system is moving slowly and most phenomena are occurring in the open waters of the Ionian Sea, while noting that 50 tons of quality rain are expected to fall. At the same time, Mr. Tsatrafyllias emphasizes that so far there have been no problems from the bad weather.
Arnaoutoglou’s presentation

The general weather trend until October 8th shows temperatures at normal levels for the season. See in detail on the map the areas and times with severe phenomena, as presented by Sakis Arnaoutoglou.
