Shocking mistreatment was allegedly suffered by a Greek-German man at the hands of a police officer in Xanthi, as the 40-year-old, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and is hard of hearing, claims that on Saturday morning he fell victim to a brutal beating and kidnapping, as his lawyer told MEGA, since, as emphasized, the police officer thought he was dealing with an illegal immigrant. From the alleged perpetrator’s side, however, it appears he proceeded with a routine check.
The attack occurred in the Sounio area of Xanthi, where the police officer, wearing civilian clothes, approached the Greek-German man as he allegedly thought he was a migrant who had entered the country illegally. In addition to the health problems he faces, the 40-year-old reportedly does not speak Greek.

The police officer handcuffed the Greek-German man and, as the victim’s lawyer also reported, threw the 40-year-old into the trunk of his vehicle and transported him to an isolated field in another area of Xanthi where he brutally beat him.
“I am in shock, it never crossed my mind that this would happen to me,” the 40-year-old victim stated.
The deputy police officer’s side maintains that he was on regular duty and proceeded with a routine check on the individual.
The Greek-German man’s lawyer stated: “Yesterday, at 9:30, the 40-year-old with Greek and German citizenship who permanently lives in Germany, left his village, Sounio in Xanthi, to go to the supermarket, which is located several kilometers outside the settlement.
As he was returning, a jeep stopped him, a man in civilian clothes got out and told him he was a police officer. The man handcuffed him, hit him and put him in the trunk of the vehicle.
About a kilometer away he took him out of the trunk, threw him in a field, removed the handcuffs, left the victim’s belongings and fled the scene,” the lawyer said.
