Particularly interesting are the revelations from a friend of the 62-year-old to Live News. As she testified, the accused was planning to leave for Germany and had already submitted her retirement application, while she had done the same thing in 1976 as a teenager!
New documents and testimonies from relatives and friends about the movements and life of the 62-year-old in Boeotia
A cousin of the 62-year-old spoke to Live News, saying he saw the elderly woman alive for the last time in 2021. As he testified, his cousin often told him that her mother was in some nursing home far away, in order to prevent visits. «She told all her cousins that she was in some facility, in some nursing home and not here nearby, Corinth, somewhere far away. So they didn’t have the ability to go and check». He added that from 2021 onwards, any attempt to visit his aunt’s house met with resistance. «She didn’t let anyone in, especially from the coronavirus period. From then on, at some point when they asked, she told them I took her to the nursing home. She had no contact with anyone». «We were looking for grandma since 2021».
The cousin continued: «In 2021 I had seen her at the beginning (grandma), then at some point she cut us off. She had put dogs in the house, from the time I entered, among the dogs and she says to me: «Since they didn’t eat you…». (…) She cut us off and when we asked about our aunt she says: «She’s fine where she is, I took her to the facility, I took her to the nursing home». (…) In two years it doesn’t decompose no matter how virgin the soil is, it doesn’t decompose». He emphasized that the 62-year-old’s excuses were many and repetitive, while he claimed that his aunt seemed to have been excluded from all contact.
Shocking was also the testimony of the elderly woman’s niece to Live News: «Unfortunately, my aunt left in this way. I’m sorry about it. We’ve all gotten sick, those of us who learned about it. I feel sorry for my cousin too. Why did she end up like this? (…) The whole family was searching but unfortunately we couldn’t accomplish anything». She explained that after the appearance of dogs in the house, communication with the elderly woman had been cut off, while the 62-year-old’s excuses multiplied, resulting in them being unable to see or speak with their aunt.
In contrast, the 62-year-old’s son was the only one who in his testimony confirmed his mother’s claims:
Question: Did your mother care for the health and hygiene of your deceased grandmother as well as ensure she took her medication?
Answer: I know that just as she did with my grandfather Papa Konstantinos, my mother did the same with my grandmother, that is, she cooked for her and fed her, washed her and cleaned her generally and made sure to give her the medicines she took, which I don’t know exactly what and how many they were.
Questions remain about what happened from early 2021 onwards, how the son was informed about his grandmother’s condition, and when he learned of her death.
What authorities estimate about the death of the 62-year-old’s mother found in the pit
Authorities estimate that the elderly woman’s death occurred well before the two years claimed by her daughter, a fact that seems to particularly irritate her in front of cameras. Police are still examining whether the 62-year-old had help from two people in digging the pit, however so far the existence of «Giannis» and his accomplice has not been confirmed. The investigation remains ongoing, with testimonies shedding light on unknown aspects of the case that has shocked Boeotia. Everything indicates that the full truth about the death of the 62-year-old’s elderly mother will soon be revealed.
