Investigation at the pit where the 62-year-old from Boeotia buried her mother to collect her pension was conducted Tuesday afternoon (23/9) by a prosecutor along with the commander of the Tanagra Police Department. It should be noted that the case has taken on new dimensions in recent hours, as the prosecutor ordered a preliminary investigation for homicide with possible intent, following the discovery of the elderly woman’s body in a pit next to the house where she lived with her 62-year-old daughter. The elderly woman is estimated to have been in the makeshift grave for more than two years, with the aim, according to authorities, for her daughter to continue collecting her pension and benefits.
Boeotia: Key to the case is when the pit was dug
According to Mega’s report and the Live News show, police are focusing their attention on one point in the 62-year-old’s testimony, where she refers to when the pit where she buried her mother was dug. This is the “key” to the case, as mentioned. This is because the 62-year-old did not say that the specific pit was dug in August 2023, when her mother died -according to her claims- but mentioned that it was dug by workers, she had requested it for some other construction work, at an earlier time, without specifying when. Therefore, it is being examined whether there was a plan to bury her mother there at some point, which if confirmed, would constitute another aggravating factor.
