This September refuses to hand over the baton to autumn, with the weather feeling more like summer than the beginning of the cooler season. According to Sakis Arnaoutoglou, the coming days will continue with sunshine and high temperatures, but a significant change in the weather pattern is expected from late in the month.

Weather: Rain will be delayed
The renowned meteorologist emphasized that until September 25th there are no signs of rain, with sunshine dominating almost the entire country. Temperatures will rise noticeably from Sunday, reaching locally up to 33 degrees Celsius, mainly in heat-sensitive inland areas. However, evenings and early mornings will feel cool, with temperatures dropping considerably, reminding us that the calendar shows September.
Weather: The air wall collapses
From September 26-27, forecast data shows that low-pressure systems will begin approaching our region, though without fully affecting Greece. As Arnaoutoglou explained, “the air wall is collapsing” that has so far prevented atmospheric disturbances from moving further south. This means that gradually, the weather pattern in Europe and our country will acquire a more autumn-like character.
Forecastweather.gr confirms the forecast, reporting that until Thursday 25/09/25 weather will be improved across all of Greece. From Friday, September 26th, local rains are forecast for central and northern mainland areas, while from Saturday 27/09/25 we enter a period of instability, thunderstorms and locally intense weather phenomena.
Regarding winds, north winds will remain strong in the first days of the week, but gradually weaken from Monday. New strengthening is expected from September 25th, with gusts up to force 7, while on the weekend of 27-28/09 winds will turn westerly, affecting the Aegean and Ionian seas.
Temperatures will remain high for the season until next week, peaking on Tuesday, September 23rd, when up to 33 degrees will be recorded. Gradually, with the arrival of the first organized rainfall, temperatures will drop and values will return to normal levels for the season.
In short, sunshine and summer-like conditions continue, but the autumn reversal is approaching. The question is how intense it will be – something that the next weather bulletins will reveal.
