Moments of intense insecurity and terror in his own home were experienced by Giorgos Mazonakis. The popular singer filed an official complaint with police, revealing that recently he has been witnessing repeated suspicious activities around and inside his residence, surveillance and wiretapping of private conversations. As revealed by LIVE NEWS, the incidents began to worry him as early as March, leading him to file a report on March 14, 2025.
Details of the complaint and Giorgos Mazonakis’s fears
In his complaint, Giorgos Mazonakis states: “Recently I have discovered that unknown individuals are constantly surrounding my house. I have seen them many times illegally breaking into my garden and leaving by jumping over the fence.” He expressed fears that the unknown individuals “wanted to harm me and damage my public image.” In the complaint he adds that “Because of these incidents I have reasonable suspicions that these specific unknown individuals belong to the underworld. They have created fear and anxiety in me that very soon they might illegally place things in my house or garden to incriminate me with the motive of defaming my image and reputation.”
Giorgos Mazonakis: Wiretapping and technical findings
Two years before the current complaint, the singer had also discovered that someone had placed a device that recorded image and sound inside his house. As mentioned in the case, it’s a USB-type component that activates only when speech is detected, and therefore leaves minimal electronic traces. As emphasized by the president of the Cybersecurity Institute, Manolis Sfakianakis, “It’s an audio recorder that works when there’s sound, and doesn’t leave electronic traces. So finding out who placed it is impossible.”
Experts who spoke to LIVE NEWS explain that the USB “didn’t record continuously, but only when it detected speech“. They consider it likely that “someone or some people entered the singer’s house periodically to charge the component, check its position and of course delete files that were unnecessary to them.”
Leakage of private conversations and the artist’s reaction
Mazonakis began to suspect surveillance when he discovered leakage of his private conversations. As his lawyer repeatedly states, the artist “is upset, bitter and indignant. But determined to continue to the end so that the whole truth comes to light,” the report states.
In his complaint the singer requests activation of investigative authorities: “Therefore I make the above known to you for your information, I report them to you and I warmly ask for your actions since, as investigative officers, you can investigate the possibility of organizing criminal acts against me (as well as against any citizen) and solve them before it’s too late.”
Fears of “planted” evidence and family disputes
The artist additionally expresses concern that they might “plant” objects in his house, while in the background of his anxiety he includes an intense legal dispute with family members: “My fear and anxiety are maximized because at the present time for various reasons, I have a harsh legal dispute with very close members of my family. Certainly my opponents know that the false spread of news and the slightest unfounded defamation of my personality are enough to stigmatize my public image.”
The singer requests investigation of the incidents so that those responsible are revealed and his personal and public life is protected.
