Authorities arrested a 59-year-old resident of Kypseli yesterday, following an incident in the Gkyzi area on Monday afternoon (08/09) where he allegedly fired shots at a sanitation worker. Specifically, the arrested individual approached a garbage truck during waste collection and “opened fire” on the sanitation employee, according to an announcement by the Greek Police. However, the perpetrator did not injure the employee and subsequently fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Kypseli: Weapons found in 59-year-old’s possession
It should be noted that officers from the Kypseli Crime Investigation and Detection Unit identified and located the 59-year-old at a point near the area where the attack took place and proceeded with his arrest on Tuesday (09/09). The 59-year-old faces charges for attempted homicide and violation of weapons laws.
During the search authorities conducted at his home, they found weapons, bullets, and brass knuckles. Specifically, the following items were discovered and confiscated:
- revolver with 4 cartridges,
- pistol,
- 3 knives,
- 2 brass knuckles,
- 14 cartridges and
- 2 full face masks.
It is emphasized that the 59-year-old defendant was brought before the competent prosecutor.
