Fraud cases targeting unsuspecting citizens by criminals across our country seem to have no end. Indeed, a new case of fraud was uncovered in Farsala, when a couple in their 40s found a bank card that an elderly couple had lost outside the National Bank, in Laou Square.
According to information from onlarissa.gr, instead of turning the card over to authorities, the perpetrators used it for electronic purchases at a liquor store, where they bought a bottle of whiskey, and then proceeded to withdraw 600 euros in cash from another bank branch.
However, the electronic transaction was what exposed their activities, leading police officers from the Farsala Department to their trail and ultimately to their arrest. The couple is being held and is expected to be brought before the Prosecutor.
Unfortunately, the money that belonged to the elderly couple from Farsala appears to have been spent on gambling, a fact that causes even greater outrage.
