Yesterday late afternoon, 10 minutes before 7:00 PM, the Greek Police, specifically a unit from the Special Police Operations Unit (OPKE), proceeded at the intersection of Charilaus Trikoupis and Isauron streets in Exarchia following a random check that led to the arrest of two young men, aged 26 and 30, who were later found to be the children of a former SYRIZA minister and current official of the Nea Aristera.
Following a march in central Athens, knuckle gloves and collapsible batons were found in their possession. According to sources, the batons were discovered hidden in underwear. The young men were initially taken to police offices and charges were filed against them for violating the “Weapons Law.”
Notably, one of the two sons had been arrested again nine years ago for participating in incidents in the Northern Suburbs of Athens. One of the two young brothers had been arrested in Maroussi in June 2016, where according to the case file formed against him at the time, he participated in a group of approximately 50 people during an anti-fascist demonstration outside the offices of the Nazi organization “Golden Dawn” on Grammatou Street in Maroussi.
