In Amaliada, the case of little Panagiotakis’s death continues to shock, with new developments expected imminently as Eirini Mourtzoukou, who has confessed to four infanticides, is called to testify about the child’s death. Meanwhile, while Panagiotakis’s mother, Popi, awaits answers and demands justice. Authorities are investigating the evidence in detail, based also on the latest forensic report, which challenges previous assessments about the cause of death. The case is expected to bring new revelations, possibly with additional suspects involved, while judicial proceedings prepare for crucial testimonies and re-evaluation of events.
According to Eirini Mourtzoukou’s lawyer, «I think we will have developments and Mourtzoukou won’t be the only defendant». She herself indicates that when she testifies about Panagiotakis, there will be surprises and possibly new defendants.
What the medical report states
The three-member forensic pathologists committee that undertook the re-examination focused on three issues: asphyxiation without signs, the absence of intestinal obstruction and respiratory infection, and brain ischemia from hours mentioned in the original histopathological report.
The report concludes that the damage found in the intestine is not due to obstruction but to autolytic alterations. Pathologist Akis Anestatis re-examined the child’s tissue samples and found that brain ischemia from hours is not evident. The brain alterations are explained by oxygen deprivation around the time of death, while no signs from hands that would close mouth and nose were found for the asphyxiation.
Reliable sources point out that infants and elderly people show inability to resist asphyxiation mechanisms, while it’s not ruled out that the perpetrator used cloth or a pillow.
Exclusive witness testimony
A man who was at the house shortly before Panagiotakis’s death told Live News that he was at the house for 5–6 hours and testified everything he knew to authorities. «We have nothing to hide or fear. I wish everything would be revealed, to find out who is responsible for this child», he stated.
«I was (at the house) for 5-6 hours yes. I went indeed, gave testimony at GADA, when they called me. I said what I knew. From there on we wait for new developments and we’ll see, watching and doing. Whatever is meant to happen will happen. If they call us, the Prosecutor or the court we will attend. We have nothing to hide or fear. I’m not interested in what Eirini and every Eirini says. »I told the police what I had to say, what I knew. I have absolutely nothing to fear and nothing to hide. I wish everything would be revealed, to find out who is responsible for this child because we learned about the others. Let’s learn about this child too, so his little soul can rest because it’s a sin before God. Whoever is guilty should pay and then some».
Panagiotakis’s mother
Popi, the child’s mother, speaking to MEGA and Live News, emphasized: «We’re waiting to see what else Eirini will come up with! The only person who was in the room when Panagiotakis passed away was Eirini. If she knows something, I challenge her to testify immediately to justice. I demand justice and I will take it to the end for my child».
«Panagiotakis’s mother clearly believes that Eirini killed her baby», emphasized the lawyer of little Panagiotis’s mother.
