The Patisia community continues to be shocked by the tragedy of the 34-year-old woman who gave birth alone and died along with her newborn baby, in front of her children. The woman’s father speaks exclusively to Live News and tries, through his pain, to explain the causes of this disaster.
He believes that if his daughter had visited a gynecologist, today he wouldn’t be mourning. Despite his attempts to persuade her, she wouldn’t change her mind. “She didn’t want to go. All these years I couldn’t understand why she was afraid of them,” he says.
His partner, who lived with him, points out that systematic medical monitoring would have ensured a normal delivery. “She refused to go to the doctor no matter how much we pleaded with her.”
Everything happened two days ago. The 34-year-old’s husband had left for work and she was left alone at home with her two older children. No one expected labor to begin. “I’m wounded by how things turned out,” declares the father.
He doesn’t blame his son-in-law at all, emphasizing that he was always there for his daughter. “I helped and I’m still helping. What else could I have done? I was constantly advising them.”
The 34-year-old tried to cut the umbilical cord herself and, according to initial findings, died from uncontrollable bleeding. Her father remembers her two previous pregnancies, where his daughter also avoided gynecologists, but was lucky then.
The woman normally vaccinated her children, aged 2 and 5, but she herself avoided doctors for unknown reasons. “We did vaccinations and everything,” adds her father.
Two days after the tragedy, relatives, friends and neighbors are trying to come to terms with what happened. “What can I say now? To lose my girl like this for no reason. She was very strong.” Her husband remains devastated and must now support their two children.
