The Subdirectorate for Crimes Against Life and Property of the Organized Crime Unit has proceeded with the arrest of a 27-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 47-year-old foreigner, which took place on the evening of August 18, 2025, in central Athens. During the investigation, another man of the same age was also arrested, with whom it was established that they were jointly involved in trafficking large quantities of narcotic substances.

Criminal charges have been filed against both 27-year-olds for, respectively, premeditated murder, theft, receiving and disposing of proceeds of crime, and violations of weapons and narcotics legislation.
Timeline of the murder in central Athens
According to the timeline of the case, as stated in a Greek police announcement, on the evening of August 18, 2025, an unknown perpetrator riding a motorcycle approached and shot the 47-year-old foreigner in central Athens, resulting in his fatal injury.
This was followed by an extensive investigation by officers from the Crimes Against Life and Personal Freedom Department, during which evidence was collected from the crime scene, as well as digital and forensic data. Through the utilization of this evidence, with the assistance of the Forensic Research Directorate, it became possible to identify the 27-year-old and map his movements before, during, and after the murder.
It should be noted that, during the investigation, on the afternoon of August 21, 2025, the motorcycle used by the perpetrator was located in Alimos. It was established that it had been stolen from the Kallithea area and was returned to its legal owner.
Subsequently, on the morning of yesterday (September 2, 2025), searches were conducted at three residences in Athens, where the following items were found and confiscated:
-1,430.8 grams of cocaine,
-642 grams of raw cannabis,
-34 grams of processed cannabis (“chocolate”),
-137 grams of unknown chemical substance,
two precision scales,
one metal grinder containing residues of raw cannabis,
one metal axe,
-2,700 euros,
a firearm with a magazine containing eleven (11) cartridges,
motorcycle rider clothing and equipment, identical to that of the murder perpetrator.
As established from all the preliminary investigation material combined with the search findings, the 27-year-old, together with his peer who was also arrested, was involved in drug trafficking, using the aforementioned residences for this purpose.
The arrested individuals, who have been charged in the past for violations of weapons and narcotics laws, bodily harm, domestic violence, and disobedience, respectively, are being referred to the competent prosecutorial authority.
