Shocking revelations are coming to light regarding the activities of members of the alleged criminal organization that operated in Crete and held all of Chania under an iron grip. According to information obtained by parapolitika.gr from over 2,000 pages that police officers have forwarded to the competent prosecutors, conversations have emerged between one of two brothers allegedly holding leadership roles in the organization and the president of AN.EL. and former Defense Minister, Panos Kammenos. The purpose of the communication was to try to persuade him to mediate with the White House and the US government, aiming to get the “green light” for the election of a specific archimandrite to the position of Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronas.
The two brothers allegedly believed that Panos Kammenos, due to his presence at President Trump’s inauguration during his first term, would have the ability to test the waters regarding the election procedures for metropolitan in the aforementioned diocese. According to information from the police investigation and legal wiretaps, the two brothers allegedly had contacts with a specific archimandrite whom they had agreed to promote.
Crete mafia: Communications with Panos Kammenos
The agreement included his election as Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronas, while in exchange he would hand over to the two brothers for exploitation, the… bones of Saint Lazarus, which he claimed to have in his possession.
According to information, just a few days ago, in mid-August, one of the two brothers contacted Panos Kammenos and announced that he had the suitable hierarch for the metropolitan position “if and when the Patriarchate, the American Base in Chania and other agencies agree.” One of the two brothers requested that Kammenos and the archimandrite come into contact to discuss the details. According to what emerges from police sources, Kammenos refused the communication, however he gave assurances to the businessman that if the metropolitan’s election goes through the American factor, “it will be achieved with certainty, since he… controls it completely.”
After the end of the communication, the accused sent a message to Panos Kammenos with the archimandrite’s name and the phrase “for bishop of Chania.” The accused then contacted the archimandrite and conveyed Kammenos’s assurances.
For his part, the priest thanked the businessman and accused for his intervention, however he continued to pressure, asking for immediate action “since the moves must be made by the end of August.”
