Despite his strong denial of the charges, the 36-year-old accused of being a member of the so-called cigarette smuggling gang and right-hand man of the notorious criminal “Edik”, who is hiding in Dubai, was sent to prison after his testimony. The defendant, who was arrested last Thursday in a cinematic police operation, allegedly was involved in cases of beatings and extortion against members of rival groups.

According to the police announcement, the arrested individual has previously “been involved in cases of robberies, thefts and drugs, and his participation in repeated extortion of a person in the Menidi area in October and December 2024 was confirmed, from whom they demanded money under the pretext of his debt, following illegal activity related to tobacco smuggling”.
According to sources, the 36-year-old denied any participation in a criminal organization, maintained that he does not know “Edik” or anyone else from the case, while attributing the extortion complaint to a private dispute.
Based on the indictment, the criminal organization in which the 36-year-old is alleged to be a member was dismantled on March 5 with the formation of a case file against 15 people, who were accused of involvement in cases of extortion and attacks against inmates in prisons.
