Thessaloniki crash: 45-year-old Porsche driver defends herself – Two victims remain hospitalized (Video)
Today, Tuesday, the 45-year-old Porsche driver involved in the Thermi crash is expected to give her testimony. Notably, immediately after the incident, the woman’s friends rushed to remove her from the scene and transport her to the hospital, so that police wouldn’t find her there.
Following her testimony, the prosecutor filed felony charges against her for dangerous driving that could have posed danger to human life, bodily harm through negligence, leaving the scene of an accident, as well as driving under the influence of narcotics (sedative pills). The 45-year-old, however, claims she was unaware that she had collided with another vehicle and therefore didn’t know there were injured citizens.
Victims hospitalized at AHEPA – 26-year-old in ICU
The two victims pulled from the wreckage of the other vehicle are being treated at AHEPA hospital. The 26-year-old remains in the ICU as she has breathing problems, fractures and lung damage, as does the 27-year-old who will undergo new tests today. The 27-year-old has fractures in his spinal column.
What the 45-year-old claimed to the prosecutor
According to information, the 45-year-old, in her defense statement to police, claimed that during the drive home she bent down to turn on the air conditioning of the luxury vehicle. From that point on, as she claims, she remembers nothing except the blood on her face and the pain when she arrived at the hospital. There, as she maintains, she learned that her friend had transported her and was then told she had collided with another car.
It should be noted that, according to her lawyers’ statements, no ethanol (alcohol) was detected in the 45-year-old’s blood during the tests performed on her. The 45-year-old was asked whether she had consumed alcohol or any other narcotic substance. She replied that she had not consumed alcohol but had taken a sedative pill when she went to the hospital because she was in shock. She claimed she didn’t see any car or any injured person and that everything “went dark” and she had no proper perception of space.
