Grief has spread throughout the local community of Euboea following the double tragedy that occurred on Friday morning (29/8) in Aliveri, when a motorcycle collided head-on with an SUV on the National Highway Chalkida – Lepoura. From the violent crash, 45-year-old Giannis K. was killed instantly, a well-known court bailiff and father of three children, while his wife, 41-year-old Evangelia K., was seriously injured and transported to Thriasio Hospital.

However, despite the superhuman efforts of doctors and the great response from citizens to the call for blood donations, the woman eventually succumbed in the early hours of Saturday at 3:00 AM. The couple leaves behind three minor children, with the tragic news spreading emotion and grief throughout the local community.
Aliveri Euboea traffic accident: Couple’s funeral on Sunday
According to eviaonline.gr, the funeral of the couple will be held tomorrow, Sunday, August 31st. Relatives, friends and acquaintances will say their final “goodbye” at the funeral service to be held at 5:00 PM at the Holy Church of Saint Tryphon in Nea Lampsakos.
How the tragedy in Euboea happened
According to preliminary assessments, the motorcycle carrying the couple attempted to overtake and collided head-on with the SUV traveling in the opposite direction. The impact was so violent that it caused a fire, completely destroying both vehicles. The motorcycle was thrown several meters away into a field, while its rider was killed on the spot.
Evangelia K. was initially transported to the Aliveri Health Center and then, in critical condition, to Thriasio Hospital, where she underwent double surgery, but despite efforts, could not be kept alive.
Traffic on the National Highway Chalkida – Lepoura was interrupted for several hours and long queues of vehicles formed, while images of the destroyed vehicles captured by local media evima.gr depict the severity of the collision.
