A gambling addict, declared the man who was arrested in Trikala following an eventful night where he robbed a city bus ticket office, after earlier playing an online game at an OPAP betting shop without paying. In fact, within just a few hours, the perpetrator had managed to make nearly 500 euros from the stolen money disappear.
The perpetrator, who was arrested by police shortly after his adventurous night, claimed that everything he did was due to his gambling addiction, to electronic games and generally anything that involved “betting”.

As it was discovered, the young man of Greek origin initially broke into a ticket office of the city’s public transport where he removed 1000 euros as well as a large number of tickets. However, to enter the interior of the ticket office, he caused considerable damage. As soon as he got the money in his hands, he went directly to… invest it in gambling.
The previous night, Tuesday evening, he had gone to an OPAP betting shop where he managed to convince the owner to let him play a 100-euro ticket and he would give him the money a little later, as he was waiting for an acquaintance to bring it to him. The unfortunate owner was convinced by the perpetrator, since he knew him, but the young man, as soon as he saw that he didn’t win anything, hurried to disappear.
Criminal charges were filed against the young man for theft, damage to property, and fraud.
