During inspections by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) at tourist destinations, over 400 violations of non-issuance of tax receipts were identified. Mixed teams from the IAPR conducted extensive inspections in Rhodes, Paros, Crete, Hydra, Corfu and Piraeus from August 16 to 25.
According to the IAPR:
- In Rhodes, a wholesale and retail beverage business was found with 306 beer boxes without required markings, while unissued receipts corresponding to 285 bottles worth almost 7,000 euros were calculated. Additionally, at a restaurant, water sports business and ice cream shop, the non-issuance of nearly 90 receipts worth over 6,000 euros was identified.
- In Paros, a well-known restaurant failed to issue 3 receipts worth over 1,800 euros.
- In Chania, at a grill house and umbrella-chair rental business, a total of 49 unissued receipts were discovered.
- In Hydra, inspections at two cafe-bars revealed 45 unissued receipts.
- In Corfu, a series of dining and entertainment businesses were caught operating without issuing receipts.
- In Piraeus, a restaurant was recorded with 20 unissued receipts.
In all cases, IAPR inspectors proceeded to impose fines and temporarily shut down the businesses for 48 hours.
