The journalist and author “passed away” from cardiac arrest at the age of 79, on Sunday morning (24/8), while being treated at a private hospital. The news of his death spread sorrow throughout the journalism and artistic community.
The deceased was the son of the famous actor Lambros Konstantaras and had a lengthy career in journalism, literature and television.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27 at 12:00 at the Holy Church of Saints Theodore at Athens First Cemetery, according to an announcement by ESIEA.

Specifically, in its announcement ESIEA stated regarding the death of Dimitris Konstantaras:
“The Administrative Council of ESIEA learned with sadness of the loss of our colleague Dimitris Konstantaras, who died yesterday at the age of 79.
Dimitris Konstantaras was born in Athens in 1946. After his high school studies, he studied English Literature at the University of Athens, while his journalistic career began in 1969 at the newspaper “ELEFTHEROS KOSMOS” as an arts editor. He subsequently worked at “EXPRESS,” “VRADYNI,” “KATHIMERINI” as head of international affairs, “4TROCHOI” magazine, “CHORA,” “TRAFFIC,” “New Channel” while serving as head of the sports departments of ERT1 and ERT2 as well as editor-in-chief and presenter of the main news bulletin. He was also sports director at “MEGA CHANNEL” and collaborated with many radio stations.
Dimitris Konstantaras worked hard and productively throughout his long career. He was a multifaceted personality as, apart from journalism, he wrote books, composed music for theater and cinema, wrote and directed documentary scripts, while his political journey is also well-known. As a person and colleague, he stood out for his ethics, kindness and proper behavior. Encouraging and helpful to young colleagues, straightforward and honest with everyone, he leaves the best memories among the many colleagues and collaborators with whom he worked professionally.
The Administrative Council bids farewell to our esteemed colleague and expresses condolences to his beloved wife Vasiliki, his children Pavlina and Lambros, his friends and relatives.
