With the agreement of both the investigator and prosecutor, the 28-year-old defendant charged with the murder of a 47-year-old woman in Chalandri last Monday was remanded in custody after his defense testimony, which lasted two and a half hours. According to sources, the defendant denied committing the homicide in a calm mental state and claimed he was in a rage and didn’t know what he was doing. He allegedly claimed that he immediately regretted his actions afterward, but it was too late.

Regarding the two knives, the 28-year-old reportedly said he was afraid, which is why he carried them with him. “I wanted to talk to the woman, that’s why I was waiting outside her house,” he allegedly claimed. The 28-year-old’s defense also filed a request for a psychiatric examination.
The fatal attack outside the 47-year-old’s home in Chalandri
The horrific crime occurred on the morning of Monday, August 18. According to sources, the defendant allegedly spotted the victim at a soup kitchen, followed her, and waited outside her residence. As he claimed, he asked her to go up to her apartment together, saying he had never been there before.
The woman refused and began shouting, at which point the 28-year-old fatally stabbed her with one of the two knives he had in his possession.
The defendant’s claims
During his preliminary testimony, the perpetrator reportedly stated that he had planned the attack, even declaring that he had bags with him, which he intended to put on his shoes so that –as he said– he wouldn’t leave traces and the victim wouldn’t be able to prove his presence at the scene. Police found two knives in his possession during his arrest. Regarding these knives, he allegedly argued:
“I always carried one with me. I bought the second one a few days ago in Omonia. My intention wasn’t to kill her, only to threaten her to find out what she had told my friends.”
