The testimony of the 56-year-old Bulgarian man in Chania, who allegedly beat and wounded his partner with 10 stab wounds, was completed on Tuesday afternoon (19/8) before the investigating magistrate. It is recalled that the woman was found bloodied outside her home, lying in a pool of blood, while the immediate response of the EKAV Apokoronas-Sfakia paramedics proved crucial for her survival due to their timely intervention. The incident unfolded on the Assumption Day holiday, following an intense argument between the couple.

With the agreement of both the investigating magistrate and prosecutor, the 56-year-old was ordered to remain in pre-trial detention until his trial. The man faces charges of attempted murder in a calm mental state, domestic violence, and illegal possession and use of weapons. According to a report by zarpanews.gr, the 56-year-old had been charged in May 2024 for assault and attempted rape, however he had been released with restrictive conditions.
