As investigations continue into the murder in Agios Panteleimonas, reports reveal that a lone gunman carried out the assassination of the 47-year-old Albanian man on Monday evening. Security camera footage of the murder scene shows the perpetrator was acting alone, wearing dark clothing, a helmet, motorcycle jacket, and gloves.
He shot the 47-year-old once in the chest and attempted to fire a second shot, but the gun jammed. At the scene, investigators found one shell casing and one complete cartridge.
The 47-year-old victim was found dead in the Agios Panteleimonas area on Monday evening, bearing a gunshot wound. The victim’s body was discovered on Michail Voda Street.

According to Albania’s Top Channel, Marsel Bashimi was arrested in July 2022 alongside Bledar Jambelli and Kristaq Leci for weapons-related incidents in Greece. The latter two are charged in Albania for the murder of police officer Artan Cuku in Tirana outside his home in 2017.

In Albania: arrested in November 2014 for the violent robbery of a 20-year-old woman in Lazarat. He stole her mobile phone at knifepoint while she was returning from the cemetery.
In Greece: On June 14, 2007, he was arrested by officers from the 2nd Border Police Department of Filates, charged with violating law 3386/05 “Concerning Foreigners.”
On July 16, 2009, he was arrested by officers from the Economic Crimes Department of the Athens Security Directorate along with nine other individuals, charged with “theft and robbery and conspiracy, formation of criminal organization, possession of narcotics for trafficking purposes and in relation to the law concerning foreigners.”
On August 26, 2013, he was arrested by employees of the Trikala Security Department with the aim of deporting him from the country, as he was considered dangerous to public order and state security and did not possess legal documents for residence in Greece.
On August 4, 2019, the Agios Panteleimonas Police Department filed charges for “identity document forgery.” Specifically, during a police investigation, he presented a document of dubious authenticity. On August 11, 2019, he was charged with violating weapons laws after being arrested for possessing a pistol in a bag and a folding knife in his trouser pocket.
On August 27, 2021, charges were filed against him by the Agios Panteleimonas Police Department for violating weapons laws when officers spotted him throwing a folding knife into a garbage bin while exiting a building on Michail Voda Street.
On January 21, 2022, he was again charged with violating weapons laws when found in possession of a knife.
On February 10, 2022, the Athens Security Directorate filed charges against him for “attempted murder with weapon use” and “violence against judicial officials and persons.” After a disagreement following an accident, the 38-year-old used a knife to wound someone in the thigh while attempting to wound them in the neck and chest with clear intent to kill. Additionally, when Athens police officers approached to arrest him, he attacked them to avoid capture.
On February 11, 2022, his name was added to a criminal organization case involving 41 individuals – 30 of whom were arrested – “whose members, acting in groups of 2-6 people simultaneously, committed daily thefts of wallets and mobile phones at metro stations and on bus and trolley lines.”
