A meeting concluded today, Monday (18/8), at noon under the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Kostas Katsafados, regarding the restoration and support of fire victims from the devastating wildfire in Patras. Subsequently, a new meeting is expected to take place in Preveza.

Patras fire: Support measures for fire victims
From the meeting, it became clear that the sooner municipalities and regions complete their files and submit them to the relevant Ministry, the faster compensation will be paid. Regarding uninhabitable houses, according to ERT information, Kostas Katsafados announced that victims can rent houses up to 500 euros and will be compensated retroactively for the rental cost in October.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection announced a series of measures, such as a three-year exemption from property tax (ENFIA).
In total, according to official records, approximately 42,500 acres were reduced to ash, while damage has been caused to more than 90 houses, of which 33 were completely destroyed and are uninhabitable.
It should be noted that several fire victims were present at the meeting site to speak with Mr. Katsafados, with him stating that the goal is to restore and support the victims as quickly as possible.
