The operation to return patients to the University Hospital of Patras at Karamandaneio has begun, after they were evacuated from the site due to the major wildfire that broke out in the area.

Specifically, according to “tempo24.news”, the return process is currently underway and is expected to be completed by 3 PM on Thursday. After the operation concludes, the hospital is set to resume normal operations with its scheduled emergency program.
It should be noted that yesterday’s evacuation was conducted purely for precautionary reasons, without any immediate danger present, as announced by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis.
Georgiadis: “Gradual return of patients to Karamandaneio”
Meanwhile, Mr. Georgiadis provided an update with a new post about the fire situation in Patras, announcing the start of the patient return process to Karamandaneio Hospital and its resumption of operations. Specifically, he wrote: “The fire fronts in Patras are in major recession. Aerial means are operating, winds significantly reduced. I was just informed that there is no active front in the urban and semi-urban fabric of the city. A small front exists toward Mount Panachaiko which is being addressed and does not threaten the city’s surroundings. We will begin the gradual return of patients to Karamandaneio and operations there from the start of today’s emergency shift.”
