The entire country has been on high alert since Tuesday (August 12), with wildfires raging on multiple fronts and firefighting forces on the frontlines, giving their absolute best to achieve successful containment of the blazes.
Active fire fronts remain in Chios, Preveza, Zakynthos and Kefalonia, with the situation being more challenging in Achaia where strong winds are hampering firefighting efforts across most fronts.
Firefighters confronting the fire fronts are called upon to perform the most difficult work, making superhuman efforts to limit the scale of destruction.
