Firefighting forces are engaged in a fierce battle against flames that have erupted across various regions of the country, with emergency 112 alerts sent to residents for evacuations in several cases.

70 agricultural and forest fires

In the last 24 hours, from 6:00 PM yesterday until 6:00 PM today, Monday August 11, 2025, 70 agricultural and forest fires broke out. Of these, 55 were immediately contained in their initial stage, while firefighting forces are still battling 15 active blazes. Notably, between 12:00 and 4:00 PM, 21 agricultural and forest fires erupted within just 4 hours.

Local investigative offices and teams from the Arson Crime Investigation Department are investigating the causes of the fires. The Fire Service appeals to all citizens to be particularly careful and, in case of fire, to follow the instructions of the competent authorities for their own safety.

Kallitechnoupoli Attica fire contained – 17 aircraft deployed

The fire in Kallitechnoupoli, Attica is now under control and contained, according to the latest update from the Fire Service, thanks to the readiness and immediate intervention of strong ground and aerial firefighting forces.

According to data released by the Fire Service, the Operations Center was notified of the fire at 6:12 PM. At 6:17 PM, the first helicopter conducting aerial patrol made its first water drop, followed by a second at 6:21 PM.

Regarding the cause of the fire, a team from the Arson Crime Investigation Department is already on site by order of the Fire Service chief, collecting evidence from witnesses and cameras to clarify where and how it started.

For the firefighting operation, the Fire Service forces were reinforced and a total of 132 firefighters with 31 vehicles, 7 forest commando teams on foot, volunteers, 11 aircraft and 6 helicopters were mobilized, one of which was for coordination.



112 alert sounded

A message from 112 was sent to residents, stating: “Forest fire in the Kallitechnoupoli area of the East Attica Regional Unit. Remain alert and follow the instructions of the authorities.”

Forces reinforced in Volvi, Thessaloniki – 112 evacuation message to Nymfopetra

The fire that broke out earlier in agricultural and forest land in the Megali Volvi area of Thessaloniki is in full development. Firefighting forces have been reinforced and residents of Vagiochori were recently notified via 112 to evacuate toward Nymfopetra.

On site, 66 firefighters with 3 foot patrol teams and 19 vehicles are operating, while aerial forces have been strengthened with two aircraft and two helicopters conducting water drops. Strong winds are hampering firefighters’ efforts.


No active front in Skotini, Argolida fire

On Monday afternoon, a fire broke out in Argolida, which currently has no active front. The fire burned low vegetation in the Skotini area and 24 firefighters with 10 vehicles, 1 aircraft and 3 helicopters were mobilized for suppression.



A 112 message for readiness was sent to area residents.


Good outlook for Trelagkatha, Aitoloakarnania fire – Suppression continues in Galatas

A fire broke out today at noon in low vegetation in Galatas, Aitoloakarnania, mobilizing 47 firefighters, including 3 foot patrol teams from the 6th EMODE, 13 vehicles and 3 aircraft, while water trucks and municipal machinery assist in suppression efforts.

Meanwhile, a new 112 evacuation message toward Mesolongi was sent to residents of Trelagkatha, where a fire also broke out in the afternoon but shows a better outlook.
