Antonis Samaras moved mourners during the eulogy for his daughter, Lena, at the funeral service at the First Cemetery, emphasizing, among other things, that “I thank God for giving us this gift for 34 years.”
“We are not saying goodbye to Lena today. We will be with her always, alongside her light, her smile, her humility. Alongside her bright blue eyes, a piece of brilliance from Greece. Alongside her love that she offered without expecting anything in return,” the former prime minister emphasized.
Moved with emotion, he added: “Her passing touched so many people she was so grateful to. Farewell, Lena, farewell and go with God. Lena shone when she gave. I thank God for giving us this gift for 34 years. Have a good journey to Paradise.”
