A serious incident was reported at the “Gennimatas” Hospital in Athens, when an elevator allegedly went into free fall from the third floor to the ground level. A hospital employee literally escaped at the last moment, avoiding the worst.
The complaint about “Gennimatas” Hospital
According to a post by Christos Argyris, chief radiology supervisor at “Gennimatas” General Hospital, a radiology department technologist was inside the elevator transporting heavy equipment. As she was attempting to exit, the elevator cabin began to give way. A colleague rushed to help her, managing to pull her out just before the cabin fell into the shaft.
With the door still open, the elevator crashed to the ground floor. Fortunately, there were no injuries, however the incident raises serious questions about equipment safety at the hospital.
