A serious incident occurred on a flight bound for Heraklion, Crete, when two intoxicated passengers refused to comply with crew instructions. The Sun reports that the two men caused major disruption and the pilot was forced to make an emergency return to London’s Stansted airport.
The aircraft, which had taken off just before 6:00 AM, returned one hour after takeoff as the two men continued to vape inside the cabin despite repeated warnings. They reportedly behaved aggressively toward crew members and other passengers. Witness accounts indicate that the two passengers had consumed large amounts of alcohol before and during the flight.
Emergency landing
After the emergency landing at Stansted, remaining passengers waited at the airport for several hours awaiting instructions about their journey’s continuation. The airline, Jet2, issued an official statement condemning the two passengers’ behavior and imposed a lifetime ban on one of them.
Police arrived at the airport and arrested one man, who was found in possession of suspicious substances. The second man was taken in for questioning but not detained.
“They were out of control. They were vaping, shouting, and causing trouble. The flight couldn’t continue with that atmosphere,” an eyewitness told British media. Nearly all passengers condemned the two men’s behavior, with some saying their holiday trip to Crete had turned into a nightmare.
