At least 32 agricultural and forest fires broke out in the last 24 hours across Greece. According to Fire Service data, 25 of these were extinguished immediately in their initial stage, while firefighting forces continue operations to extinguish the remaining seven.

77-year-old arrested for hot works near forest area in Spata-Artemida Municipality
Authorities proceeded to arrest a 77-year-old man who was performing hot works near a forest area in the Municipality of Spata-Artemida. Additionally, the 77-year-old was imposed an administrative fine of 3,000 euros.
Specifically, the Fire Service, in its announcement, states: “Today, within the framework of the flagrant procedure, a Greek national was arrested by investigative officers of the Markopoulo Fire Service, for executing hot works near a forest area, in violation of current legislation, in an area of the municipality of Spata-Artemida in Attica, and was imposed an administrative fine of 3,000 euros.”
