Under intense scrutiny are the messages exchanged between Giorgos Mazonakis and the remanded Karneadou Street doctor, as well as the 56-year-old’s conversations with a hypnotherapist regarding the plasmapheresis procedure. Meanwhile, new evidence about the conditions inside the fateful Kolonaki clinic on the day of the beloved singer’s death is coming to light — stemming from a group chat found on employees’ mobile phones, according to ERT.
Giorgos Mazonakis: The messages he exchanged with the doctor on the day of his death
As revealed by Mega’s “Live News” program, the doctor had been in contact with Giorgos Mazonakis the day before regarding the scheduled plasmapheresis appointment. However, the 56-year-old sent the singer new messages on the morning of Wednesday, September 9, apparently wanting to confirm whether Mazonakis would be coming in for the procedure and to update the hypnotherapist accordingly.
“Good morning, my Giorgos! How are you feeling today?” the doctor texted the singer at 09:52.
The singer replied at 13:47: “I’m on my way,” to which she responded: “I’m waiting for you. We’re all ready!” It was just minutes before the singer arrived at Karneadou Street. From that point, the sequence of events that became public from the very beginning unfolded — when the 56-year-old sent a photo to the hypnotherapist showing the artist unconscious and connected to the INUS machine, confirming that the procedure was underway with the words: “All good.”
Mazonakis’s concerns about plasmapheresis and the cost of treatment
It is worth recalling that prior communications between Giorgos Mazonakis and the 56-year-old had taken place, in which the singer expressed reservations about their appointment. In the early hours of Tuesday, September 8, the singer sent the doctor the following message: “My dear, when we spoke, our group was in a rush and I didn’t understand what it is that I’ll be paying €6,000 or €3,000 for — it’s all the same to me — so let’s talk about what and how, but I will come if it’s for hydrotherapy. I’m not about to spend that kind of money. Let’s talk about this today.” That day, the singer had been due to visit the doctor’s clinic for hydrotherapy.
At 08:41 that morning, the 56-year-old doctor replied: “When you come, I’ll explain what I proposed and you can decide. Have your hydrotherapy and we’ll see from there.” Later, at 14:45, Giorgos Mazonakis sent her: “Just woke up, let’s talk in person, kisses,” to which the doctor replied one minute later: “Perfect, I’ll be waiting for you.”
The doctor’s conversation with the hypnotherapist
Regarding the 56-year-old doctor’s text messages with the hypnotherapist, on that same morning at 08:41, the doctor forwarded the singer’s message to the hypnotherapist.
According to “Live News,” at 08:42 he replied:
“I see. We’ve started,” and a few minutes later, at 08:45, he sent: “Listen, tomorrow I’ll be waiting for him in Kifisia to corner him.”
The doctor reportedly replied at 08:49:
“Agreed.”
At 09:01, the hypnotherapist sent another message:
“But if he comes to you today, give him a tour so he understands the benefits of this cleansing.”
The 56-year-old replied at 09:11:
“Of course.”
Later, at 19:23, the hypnotherapist reportedly asked:
“Did Mazo come?”
The doctor responded:
“I’ll call you and tell you. Yes, he came.”
Additionally, according to “Live News” reporting, several phone calls between the 56-year-old and the hypnotherapist were recorded in the days prior. On September 4, they had one call lasting eight minutes. On September 7, six calls were recorded, ranging from zero to five minutes in duration — the same day that, according to reports, contact was also made with Giorgos Mazonakis regarding the plasmapheresis treatment. On September 8, two more phone calls followed, lasting 6.5 and 14 minutes respectively, while on September 9, two calls were recorded, lasting six minutes and one minute respectively. The messages and call history are being examined as part of the case and form part of the evidence that has been made public regarding the final days before Giorgos Mazonakis’s death.
Group chat confirms administration of anesthesia
At the same time, shocking new revelations are coming to light. According to ERT, a group chat was found on the mobile phones of the clinic’s secretaries and nurses, which captures the real conditions inside the medical office. The chat contained an explicit reference to the incident, confirming that anesthesia had been administered. “The doctor performed plasmapheresis and anesthesia on her own daughter too,” reads a message sent by a Karneadou clinic employee in a Viber group chat with her colleagues on August 26. The doctor was not a member of that particular group chat.
According to Live News, in the employees’ group chat, one of the nurses referred to the day’s appointments and noted that the doctor’s own daughter was among the patients.
Nurse: “The doctor has INUS today and the doctor’s daughter is also in the appointments.”
Nurse: “What?”
Nurse: “Yes, the daughter is asleep.”
“The doctor administered anesthesia to at least 3 patients this year”
According to revelations made by a former employee of the Karneadou clinic speaking to Star, the doctor had administered anesthesia to at least three patients this year.
“I was in the group chat. In that group chat, the nurses coordinated who would come in on which day and at what time. As far as I can remember, she had performed some INUS sessions that week while we were still away on vacation,” the clinic worker told Star.
She didn’t know that the nurses — whom she tried to manage through their statements — were talking among themselves about everything, while the secretaries were hearing it all. There were other individuals on whom anesthesia had also been administered, a clinic employee revealed to Star.
“Yes, it must have happened before [she had administered anesthesia to others too]. Rarely, but yes. If I remember correctly, from what I’d overheard — without actually seeing it — maybe 3 or 4 times within the past year?” “She had direct contact with her [the anesthesiologist], but it was only heard occasionally,” the secretary reportedly said.
What the doctor deleted
Investigators also established that the singer experienced a sudden and rapid drop in blood pressure during the procedure. Conversations the doctor had with the singer were recovered, along with messages she had exchanged with the hypnotherapist. From the deleted browsing history, officers also discovered searches the doctor had submitted to artificial intelligence tools, including: “how does recovery from anesthesia work? is there an antidote for propofol? is propofol available in pill form?” — leading investigators to believe she was desperately searching for a way to revive the singer.
In addition to propofol, the doctor allegedly also conducted online searches for a second powerful sedative substance — midazolam. Authorities are now investigating the possibility that the singer was administered a lethal combination of these two anesthetic agents, which can cause severe side effects, including cardiac complications.
According to the investigation, the 56-year-old defendant deleted the following:
- 19 image files depicting health records related to Giorgos Mazonakis, dated 08/09/2026
- 18 files related to the EIS system software, with a recorded timestamp of 17:30
- 1 image file related to the Zyto 5 software, with a recorded timestamp of 17:32
- 3 document files, two of which are reports generated by the above software and one of which is an electronic referral
- One file has a coded name and contains all of Mazonakis’s personal details — but not his name
The investigation is also focused on the alteration of the scene, as the clinic was cleaned and critical evidence was lost:
“Before we left, we tidied up the clinic. I don’t remember anyone asking us to clean up — we just did what we always do. We didn’t think that we shouldn’t touch anything. Besides, the filter from the machine had already been removed by the 56-year-old doctor, and the paramedics took Mazonakis with the IV catheter still in place,” the 56-year-old nurse reportedly testified.
Giorgos Mazonakis’s phone examined in forensic detail
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Division are placing particular importance on Giorgos Mazonakis’s mobile phone, as it is expected to yield messages, conversations, and calls exchanged between the singer and the accused doctor — allowing investigators to determine how long they had been in contact and how long the singer had been visiting the clinic for treatments.
The second person whose calls, communications, and relationship with the singer will be sought from the phone is the hypnotherapist, who is not a defendant in the case and whose own mobile phone has not been seized.
Most critically for investigators, however, is the search for any new individuals who had been in contact with Giorgos Mazonakis — and in particular the third person, the individual who recommended that the singer visit the Karneadou Street clinic.
