The aunt of the 56-year-old doctor — currently in pre-trial detention in connection with the death of beloved Greek singer Giorgos Mazwnakis — has spoken out about her niece’s personality and character. Speaking on the television program Exelixeis Tora (“Developments Now”), the aunt shared personal memories about the doctor’s behavior, appearance, and the way she reportedly sought to present herself within their local community.

“We would see her at church, very dressed up — nothing like you’d expect from a doctor,” the aunt said, describing the impression her niece had made on her over the years in their village. She also commented on her niece’s professional path, saying: “She supposedly went to medical school, but what kind of doctor did she turn out to be?”
The aunt went on to describe what she personally perceived as a self-centered character. “She was a bit of a show-off, a bit of an egotist — a self-important type, to put it simply,” she said plainly.
“She didn’t consider anyone”
The aunt continued her account, saying she believed the 56-year-old placed great importance on her social image. “She acted like she was the only one who mattered. If she needed to get past you, she’d push you aside or simply not pay you any attention,” she said, continuing her personal narrative.
According to the aunt, her niece had a strong and distinct presence in the village, standing out particularly for her appearance. “She didn’t consider anyone. She carried herself as if she were the wealthiest, most important woman in the village,” she said.
The aunt also paid particular attention to her niece’s style of dress, describing a woman who, she claimed, favored expensive and striking clothing. “And she dressed beautifully. Twelve-centimeter heels, skirts above the knee. Designer clothes, expensive clothes,” she recalled. “There would be 20 to 50 women at church, and she always stood out. She had blonde hair,” the aunt added. Wrapping up her description, she also touched on the doctor’s family circumstances and financial standing: “After she married, she acted as though there was no one else in the village. She was an egotist, she was lavish. They have a two-story house — nice, well-kept, well-built…”
Messages between the hypnotherapist, Mazwnakis, and the doctor now under scrutiny
The 56-year-old doctor remains in pre-trial detention alongside her 58-year-old husband, also a physician, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Giorgos Mazwnakis’s death continues. Authorities are closely examining statements, communications, and messages exchanged between individuals connected to the case, as well as events that took place at the private medical clinic on Karneadou Street.
New evidence presented on Exelixeis Tora includes messages exchanged between the hypnotherapist, Mazwnakis, and the doctor both before and after the incident.
Investigators are also examining the precise timeline of the plasmapheresis procedure and determining which individuals were present at the clinic during the process. The statements and communications form part of the ongoing investigation.
It should be noted that the aunt’s account reflects solely her own personal impression of the 56-year-old and does not constitute a judicial finding in the case surrounding the death of Giorgos Mazwnakis.
