Meteorologist Christina Rigou delivered her forecast for the second autumn storm system in the space of a week during her appearance on Parapolitika 90.1 radio, on the show “Απέναντι Μικρόφωνα” with Vassilis Skouris and Sotiris Xenakis. Ms. Rigou warned that rain is expected in Athens this weekend, while also providing a special weather forecast for Anna Vissi’s concert at OAKA, and breaking down how conditions will develop across the rest of the country. She wrapped up with a practical tip: dress in “slightly more autumnal layers… and bring an umbrella this weekend.”
Rain expected in Athens this weekend
Ms. Rigou confirmed that both Saturday and Sunday will see light rain across Athens, though nothing extreme is anticipated. On Saturday, she explained, the rain is expected to ease off by late afternoon, around 6–7 p.m., while Sunday will bring rainfall from the morning until approximately 5–6 p.m., again affecting the entire Athens basin.
What the weather will be like at Anna Vissi’s OAKA concert
When asked specifically about the weather for Anna Vissi’s Saturday night concert at OAKA, Ms. Rigou offered reassurance, saying the rain should clear up by then. “It won’t be raining — there might be a light drizzle, some leftover moisture,” she said. She did, however, warn of a noticeable drop in temperature, down to around 15–16°C, advising those arriving earlier in the afternoon to come prepared for a possible light shower.

Ms. Rigou noted that Athens will start the day at around 14°C, with afternoon highs reaching 23°C at midday.
How the storm system will develop across the rest of Greece
Ms. Rigou explained that a low-pressure system moving in from the west will bring rain and thunderstorms, initially hitting the Northern Ionian — Zakynthos and Epirus — as early as midday, before gradually spreading toward Macedonia and Thessaly by evening. She noted that these regions will see significantly more rainfall than Athens. By Saturday, the system will extend across the entire country, though conditions will improve quickly in northern Greece, with the worst weather ultimately concentrating over the eastern regions, the islands, Thessaly, and further south.
What to expect next week
Ms. Rigou indicated that no new intense low-pressure system of comparable strength is expected in the coming week, though cooler temperatures will linger. She noted that while the thermometer would hit 25–26°C on the day of the interview, it would dip by 2–3 degrees the following day before settling back around 25°C for the rest of the week — temperatures that, as she put it, no longer call for summer clothes, but rather for “slightly more autumnal layers… and an umbrella this weekend.”
