New details in the case surrounding the death of Giorgos Mazonakis emerged on Sunday morning (20/09) on SKAI, as the “Reportaz stis 10” program brought to light a prison meeting between the two detained doctors at Korydallos Prison, along with a crucial new piece of evidence uncovered during the digital investigation of clinic employees’ mobile phones.

The new evidence involves a message sent by a clinic employee to a relative or close acquaintance, in which she allegedly stated that the doctor had administered “anesthesia” to the singer. According to information broadcast on the program, this particular message was subsequently deleted. As SKAI reported, the two accused doctors’ request to meet was approved by the supervising prosecutor of the prison. The 56-year-old female doctor was transferred from the women’s prison to the male wing of Korydallos Prison, escorted by the external guard.

The two remand prisoners met for approximately 30 minutes in a designated visitation room, without the usual glass partition separating them. According to the report, handcuffs were removed during the meeting and the two doctors embraced. The visit was conducted in full compliance with all applicable security protocols.
At the same time, according to information broadcast during the program, security measures for the two accused remain strict. The 56-year-old is held in a room in the women’s wing, while the 58-year-old is kept in a small cell in the men’s wing. Neither has contact with other inmates, and all movements are conducted under heightened supervision.
Hostile reactions from fellow inmates
According to the report, both doctors have faced verbal hostility and expressions of disapproval from other prisoners, with authorities concerned about the possibility of a more intense reaction from the inmate population. At the same time, the SKAI reporter on the ground outside Korydallos Prison painted a telling picture: while waiting for her live broadcast, two cars passed by playing Giorgos Mazonakis’ songs at full volume.
The beloved singer held a special place in the hearts of inmates, having visited the prison in 2023, performed a concert, and — according to reports — personally visited areas where prisoners were held, shared a meal with them, and presented individual gifts to those present.
The mysterious message
Authorities are currently examining the mobile phones of employees at the Karneadou Street clinic, searching for communications that could shed light on what happened during the critical hours. It was in the course of this digital investigation that a message was discovered — allegedly sent by one of the employees to a relative or close associate.
The message reportedly contained the phrase: “She gave him anesthesia.” The reference is believed to relate to the doctor and Giorgos Mazonakis, who was at the clinic at the time. Of particular significance, according to the report, is the fact that the message was subsequently deleted.
A new dimension to the investigation
This finding carries additional weight given that investigators have been actively exploring the possibility that Giorgos Mazonakis may have been administered some form of substance prior to the medical procedure he underwent. However, the employee’s message does not in itself constitute proof that anesthesia was actually administered. It is a piece of digital evidence that judicial authorities must now evaluate alongside all other findings in the case.

The central question is whether the employee’s statement reflects something she personally witnessed or perceived inside the clinic — and, crucially, whether it can be corroborated by other evidence gathered during the investigation. Investigators are also examining the exact time the message was sent, the identity of the recipient, the reasons behind its deletion, and whether any other communications from the same employee could help clarify what was taking place at that moment.
Hypnotherapist summoned before investigating judge
The same report also referenced the upcoming examination of a hypnotherapist from Kifissia, who is expected to appear before the investigating judge. The hypnotherapist is connected to the investigation due to a photograph that the 56-year-old doctor allegedly sent to his mobile phone while Giorgos Mazonakis was connected to the plasmapheresis machine.
Among the key questions being raised is the exact nature of his relationship with the doctor in question, whether any professional collaboration existed between them, and what prompted the sending of that particular photograph. Authorities are also being called upon to investigate whether there was any intended continuity between the procedure being carried out at the Karneadou Street clinic and what was planned to follow at a separate medical facility.
