Margarita Papandreou’s final farewell at Athens’ First Cemetery

The state funeral of Margarita Papandreou is taking place at the First Cemetery of Athens, where family members, friends, and representatives of the political world have gathered to bid her a final farewell.

The eulogies for Margarita Papandreou will be delivered by her two sons, George and Nikos Papandreou. Anna Diamantopoulou will also speak at the ceremony. The Greek government is represented at the state funeral by Interior Minister Thodoris Livanios.

Margarita Papandreou passed away on Friday, September 18, at the age of 103. She was an author and activist who became closely associated with the Greek women’s movement.
