Optimistic messages are coming from Turin, as the liver transplant for 15-year-old Dimitris was completed successfully just moments ago, following severe heat stroke he suffered during a hiking trip in Metsovo.

After the surgery which lasted 8.5 hours, everything indicates it went well and the fifteen-year-old was transferred to a hospital unit. “Everything went well” states Dr. Andreas Iliadis in his first statements to thebest.gr.
His father, speaking to ERT, had said about the incident: “Dimitris is a very healthy child, but he needs to be careful in the heat, as he has had sensitivity since childhood. When he was little, we took care of him. But at 15 today, already a young man who went on vacation, he forgot that he has heat sensitivity and decided to go mountain hiking with his friends. So the sun and heat caught them and, while he should have taken refreshments etc. with him, he neglected this, resulting in his liver being destroyed by heat stroke and they have now come to this emergency situation“.
