A clearer picture is now emerging regarding the final critical moments in the life of 44-year-old Esma, who met a horrific death at the hands of her estranged husband in the settlement of Dialampi in Rodopi last Wednesday. The findings from the forensic examination reveal the perpetrator’s extreme violence prior to the fatal knife strike, as well as evidence that may point to a struggle between the two.
It became known early on that the unfortunate woman and mother of three children received a single, devastating stab wound. The blow landed at the front of the neck, just above the left collarbone. The stab was brutal and powerful — the autopsy revealed that the depth of the wound spanned nearly the entire length of the blade, approximately 20 centimeters. The knife penetrated the chest cavity and reached close to the rear ribs, puncturing the lung.
According to sources, however, beyond the external hemorrhaging that such a wound can cause, the victim suffered massive internal bleeding. A large volume of blood accumulated on the left side of her chest, causing her to lose her life as a result of this injury within approximately seven minutes.
Was there a struggle beforehand?
What stands out compared to what was previously known is that bruising was discovered during the autopsy. On the inner side of the victim’s right arm, between the elbow and the wrist, two circular bruises were found. These may well be marks left by the perpetrator’s hand, who likely gripped the victim’s arm with great force.
The second finding — which is now giving law enforcement authorities a new perspective as the preliminary investigation draws to a close — is the presence of a bruise on the victim’s leg, specifically on the front of the shin. According to sources, it is believed that such an injury could have resulted from impact with a solid piece of furniture.
With this evidence now in hand, police authorities are working to reconstruct the final seconds of the 44-year-old’s life. It is believed that a struggle may have taken place, with the male suspect grabbing the victim’s arm, pushing her into a piece of furniture, and then stabbing her. All of this will become clearer by the conclusion of the preliminary investigation.
