Very high temperatures continue across many regions of Greece today (27/08), with maximum temperatures exceeding 40°C. According to the automatic meteorological station network of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, 96 out of 587 active weather stations recorded temperatures greater than or equal to 37°C. The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Sparta at 40.4°C, followed by Oléni in Elis at 40.2°C.

Weather forecast
According to the weather forecast issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), temperatures will generally remain at above-seasonal levels on Friday (28/8), with a slight further rise in the west where they will reach 37 to 38°C and locally up to 39°C. In the northeast, a small drop is expected, with temperatures reaching 34 to 36°C. In the central mainland areas, temperatures will reach 35 to 37°C and locally 38°C, while in the island regions they will reach 32 to 33°C, with local highs of 36°C in southern Crete and the Dodecanese.
Conditions will be mostly clear across the majority of the country, with rainfall expected in the northern mainland and isolated thunderstorms in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, with a possibility of afternoon storms over the remaining mainland mountain areas. Winds will blow from northerly directions at 5 to 7 Beaufort, and locally up to 8 Beaufort over open seas.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly, reaching 37 to 38°C on the mainland and locally up to 39°C in the west, while island regions will see highs of 33°C and locally up to 36°C in southern Crete and the Dodecanese.
